30V 100mA Low Dropout Voltage Regulator HX78L05

HX78L05 three-terminal positive regulator is available with a 5V fixed output voltage, making it useful in a wide range of applications. Replaced as a Zener diode and resistor combination, it typically provides two orders of magnitude improvement in effective output impedance and lower quiescent current. These regulators can provide local, on-card regulation, eliminating the distribution problems associated with single-point regulation. Available voltages allow the HX78L05 to be used in logic systems, instrumentation, HiFi, and other solid-state electronic devices.

HX78L05 is available in a SOT89-3 package. There is sufficient heat dissipation for the regulator to provide 100 mA of output current. Current limiting is included to limit the peak output current to a safe value. Safe area protection is provided for the output transistors to limit internal power consumption. A thermal shutdown circuit prevents the IC from overheating if the internal power consumption is too high to provide heat dissipation.
